Cycling Rides

Ride Tonight: Eric is going to ride this evening (Thursday, 7/12). If anyone would like to join. Starting from Belton and Schrimper at 6 PM. The plan is to ride the 31 mile loop through Elm City, North Wilson and around the reservoir. Please RSVP in the blog. Here is the route.

Morning Rides: We are still riding in the mornings at 5:45 but as daylight is starting later and later, that time may change to 6 AM soon. The morning ride lasts less than an hour.

Duke Tri Course: Also, for the Duke Tri participants, I am going to do another pre-ride of the course on Saturday, July 21. The overlook parking lot and facilities open at 8. I will plan to get there with the hope of starting the ride at 8:15. Please let me know if you would like to join. I have maps and turn guides so everyone will be able to ride at their own pace and meet back at the overlook. - Eric

I can't make it on the 21st. Are you planning to also ride it in August? I would like to go the next time.

  4. I am planning to ride at least once in August. Maybe the 11th and then again on the 25th if I can swing it. I would like to get three more rides in on the course if possible.

  5. One other comment on the new pavement on Bend of the River and Barnes Chapel Roads - it is a funny sound/feeling. It sounds like you have a flat (because your tire sort of sticks to the new asphalt) and it feels like you have a flat (because of the increased drag as you stick or even sink into the asphalt a little). Oh, and the transition at the bridges is better...but still a pretty good bump.
