3rd Annual Crossing of Lake Gaston

Frank has a suggestion for the RMEC that I wanted to share. For the third year, there will be an organized swim (or float) across Lake Gaston. The event includes a t-shirt, and fruit and drinks at the finish. For those who do not want to swim, you can bring your own flotation and paddle across as well.

Frank lives on the lake and has offered to organize a run for those who would like to run around the lake area. We could do this after the swim if people are interested in doing both. We could then enjoy some time relaxing on Franks dock and splashing around some more in the water. We could probably do a little water skiing, but keep in mind Frank has a boat that will only seat six, and he will not be driving the boat all day.

This year's Crossing will take place Saturday, Aug. 11, at 9 a.m. It starts at the Eaton Ferry Marina and parallels the Eaton Ferry Bridge until the finish line at Waterside Restaurant at Dockside Landing.

If there is enough interest, we can pick up some hot dogs and chips and grill out too. Reply here ASAP if you are interested, so Frank can plan accordingly. This really does sound like a fun event.

    - If Andy wears his Speedo, all bets are off
    - Swim Distance is about 1 mile across Lake Gaston @ Eaton's Ferry Bridge

    Iam absolutely bummed Im going to miss all this excitement, we truely must plan another "group" activity in addition to running or riding. We will be in the Carribean during this time and wont be able to attend. Please do plan another cool event like this. We have a good sized boat and love to tow skiers, tubers and wake boarders. My children would love the company!!! ;}

    Swimming would be out of the question for me. Not that I'm a good swimmer anyway, but with only one good arm, I just don't think that will work. Sounds like fun though!
