I missed the ride this morning and am planning to try to ride tonight. Anyone else up to ride 7/23 at 6PM? For something new, I think I may do the 19 mile ride listed below towards Red Oak. For anyone who wants to go, lets meet by the Salvation Army container in front of Harris Teeter. Is there anyone looking to ride on Tuesday or Thursday evening? Time? Route?
Finally, who would be available for a large group ride on Saturday morning, 7/28, here in Rocky Mount?
I would love to see us get a ride together with an A and B group. I was thinking that we could try to start riding at 8 AM from Harris Teeter, ride for about 6 miles together at a 13 to15 mph warm up pace and then split and do these courses. (the split would be at the corner of Red Oak Battleboro Rd and N. Browntown Rd, A-group would go North on Browntown, B-Group West on Red Oak Battleboro). (Click on Print Notes for turn by turn and distances)
I'm interested in 51 miles on Saturday a.m. However, my desire to ride is tempered by the need for a sitter. I'll start looking.

I rode the 19.2 mile course yesterday. It was relatively traffic free and had some hills. One note, about 9 miles in, on Red Oak Battleboro Rd there was a house with 4 dogs that came to the road, but not into it. I am planning to ride the same route tonight to see if they are there again. If so, I will adjust the route to avoid them.
ReplyDeleteNOTE: Morning rides have been moved from 5:45 to 5:55 start time for a little more daylight.
ReplyDeleteMeant to add, if anyone would like to ride tonight (Tuesday)meet at the Salvation Army box in front of Harris Teeter at 6PM.
ReplyDeleteI was planning to join you but I was banned due to my drug test showing abnormally high amounts of beer and advil.....
ReplyDeleteI am absolutely bummed about that. All you dopers should be ashamed! Oh, and the tour is irritating me as well....
ReplyDelete^ Me too. I was looking forward to watching The Discovery guys duel it out with the Dane and the Aussie tonight....however all the doping "stuff" has tempered my desire to watch.
ReplyDeleteYikes...I just heard a rumor that Rasmussen was pulled by his team and will not be at the start of tomorrows stage!
ReplyDeleteCrushing...that is all can say. One of the best tours in recent memory - very upsetting. Oh, well.
ReplyDeleteLooking for RSVP for Saturday morning riders. Leave the Harris Teeter parking lot at 8 AM sharp. Two routes - depending on turnout - 20 miles and 50 miles. Please post if you are planning ride, and which would be your choice. Thank you
