We had a good turnout for the 2nd installment of the RMEC 5k Series. Eight total racers came to run. As expected, it was a hot run, but a shady course made the heat tolerable. After some further investigation, it appears the course may have been 3.05 miles, so just a tiny hair under a 5k. Here is a breakdown of the times:- 20:43 - Michael
- 21:25 - Brent (50 second improvement over last week)
- 24:49 - Tom
- 28:03 - Denna
- 28:07 - Tracy P
- 30:27 - Debbie
- 30:27 - Anne (16 second improvement)
- 30:27 - Misty (2:10 improvement)
Next Monday is the last race in the 5k series. I had planned to run the Chase course again, however, we could run this route again if people are interested. Speak up now, so we can have a plan for next Monday. I really hope to get a big turnout for the last race. We have about 50 people who are on our email list, so I know we should be able to get 20 runners out for the finale. We have lots of new faces. . . time to see some of the "old gang" on the roads again. Bring the kids! Have fun!
Hope to see you all tonight at the Shoe Clinic!
I would prefer the last route. Speaking for the women, when I was doing the first run coming down Western by myself I had several comments said to me from "spectators" that made me a bit uncomfortable. City Lake also is a bit more accommodating to families running around.
ReplyDelete^Agreed. The potential for traffic issues is greater with the first route as well.
