Weekend Update: Part 2

Gateway Bank Half Marathon @ the Outer Banks:
As mentioned below, there were other RMEC members racing this weekend. I knew Tracy H. was racing the half at the Outer Banks, but I also discovered that Angela and Mike Barnhill raced as well.

Tracy H had a great race. She was on her way to a sub two hour performance, but a hill and a strong wind set her back with a few miles to go. Once she shock off the cold, she was back on pace and still managed a PR performance of 2:02:24.

Angela ran a very impressive 1:48:14. This was good enough for 10th place in her age group. After looking at Angela's RnR Half, and now the OBX Half, it appears she is ready to peak on December 8th in Rocky Mount! Mike also had a good race, running 2:08:55 knocking almost 12 full minutes off of his RnR Half time.

Battleship Half Marathon:
I mentioned in my first post that Derek set the new RMEC mark for the full marathon. . . well Dave did the same for the half marathon in Wilmington. Dave ran an amazing 1:33:17 finishing 58th out 514 finishers. If you are curious that is a 7:08 pace for 13 miles! This knocked six minutes off his previous PR. If you ever needed proof that cross training works, just take a look at Dave.

2007 Race Results:
If you have not looked at the Race Results for 2007 recently, be sure to take a minute now and review it. We have put together an very impressive resume of races this year! The number of races and PRs is outstanding. So far we have tracked 200 races for 55 runners. Wow! Be sure to log a few more races before 2008!

Next Weekend:
Truly several outstanding performances over the weekend in all races. I hope every will take this week to recover. The Turkey Trot is a great chance to get back together and stretch out your legs. Even if you just come out for the t-shirt and an easy jog, I do hope to see you at Hornbeam Park on Saturday. Lets make it a great showing for the RMEC!
