The event currently has 326 runners. Last they had almost 1,400, so expect to see the registration numbers move quickly. The event is truly something you should do once in your life, if for no other reason so you have a story to tell you friends (and a cool shirt).
There is a Team Challenge, although the details are not well known. All runners still complete the entire race. So when you sign up, select the Rocky Mount Endurance Club as your team. They are not alphabetized, right now we are near the bottom.
Post a comment here if you are running/vomiting. Let us know if you are doing the "Challenge", or just the "Casual" runner.
Nice image of the girl "tossing her doughnuts". That is just way cool !

ReplyDeletefor the record, I managed to consume one donut last year
ReplyDeleteOne donut. . . wow! Let me give you your man card back. That is like saying: "For the record, I ran 2.18 miles of a marathon"
ReplyDelete(That is 1/12 of 26.2 miles for those without a calculator.)
Much like miles 20 - 26 of the Marathon....No training can get you ready for doughnuts 11 & 12. It just takes guts (or gut).
ReplyDeleteI'm a lurker here (haven't ever joined y'all for a run), but I'm planning on running the KK Challenge.
ReplyDeletePs. Does anyone know Bill and Marcia Davis? They said they thought they knew some people in this running group.
I know Bill and Marcia. A few of us work at RBC with Marcia.
ReplyDeleteCome join us!
Jim, please join us. Our group is about as far from elite as you can find. We range from a 6:30 pace to an 11:30 pace. Men, women, young, and old.
ReplyDeleteIf you have two feet and show up to run. . . you are a member!
Not true Michael . . . many times I run slower than an 11:30 pace!
ReplyDeleteAbout the KK Chllenge . . . two words from me . . . NO WAY!! Too much effort!!
Frank
I have to agree with Frank on this one. I normally "try to keep up with the guys" but count me out this time. Now the 20 miler make up run I may join you on...
ReplyDeleteI am in as long I can get in my 20 that week. I plan on trying to consume some donughts, as long as they are jelly-filled
ReplyDeleteThanks for the welcome,
ReplyDeleteI've been wanting to join you for a run, but with a new little one (4 mos.) at home it's been hard to leave the wife at home. I'll try to sometime.
If I don't see you before then, maybe we'll catch up at the KK Challenge.
Also, is anyone else on RunningAhead.com? If so, my user name is baldjim.
ReplyDeleteJim-
ReplyDeleteAre you the guy in the Graphic article this past week?
Anonymous,
ReplyDeleteYep. I guess I'm famous in the great metropolis of Nashville now, huh? My first reaction when I saw it was, "Wow, they put my big head on the front page."
Ok... I've committed! I'm registered as a challenger. It will be interesting, at the very least.

^^Jim-
ReplyDeleteThat was me (Scott) who asked the question above. I forget to include my name 1/2 the time I post a message. I live in Nashville and do some of my weekend runs around town. Shoot me an email (my info is on the contact page) if you can sneak away for a run sometime. I try to run early Sat mornings so I can minimize my time away from the family - it would be great to have some company!
