Good morning.
I am planning to ride from work Tuesday through Friday this week. I usually leave around 11:30 AM and will ride for 50 minutes to 1:15. If you have time and want to join me, let me know. There is parking at Kamlar and there is easy access to routes both North and South.
Saturday, September 8 : Still planning to ride about 42 miles at a 16 to 17 mph average pace. At the moment, there are at least 5 that have said they are planning to join in. We will meet at Harris Teeter and leave the parking lot at 7:30 AM. Here is the route I am thinking of : It gives plenty of opportunities for people to extend or curb the length of the ride.

Sunday morning : I would like to do a reservoir loop from the Dentist office.
Due to the Duke Triathlon, I am in more of a taper mode, so I am not planning to ride very hard for any of these rides.
I hope to work it out so that I can ride with the group Saturday a.m. Thanks for setting it up.

I would like to ride either Saturday or sunday, Im checking my schedule now. Thanks Tracy
ReplyDeleteEric, have you done this race before? If so, do you have any info that might be helpful for those of us who have no idea what to expect before, during or after the race? Any info from a veteran would be helpful!
ReplyDeleteThanks Tracy
Tracy,
ReplyDeleteI have not done the race before. I have just ridden the course. Cliff and Jason have both done the full half Ironman in the past. I do not know how the relay works either. I am planning to attend the 6PM pre-race meeting on Saturday the 15th and will learn more about it then. One thing I can offer to the group would be a quick tire change lesson. Given the rocks and garbage on public roads, you may end up with a flat. If people are interested, I can put together an easy clinic and everyone can change a few tires.
That's a good idea. I've never changed a tire before.
ReplyDeleteI guess we need to determine a night to get together to do it. I don't think the Y will let people bring bikes into the building. I could host a seminar on my porch one night. Any other thoughts?
ReplyDeleteThat tire change clinic sounds like a great idea. Kinnie and Mary and I were just talking about it today. I have to work Monday and Wednesday evenings next week, any other evenings would be good, or maybe if we get together to ride this weekend, we could do it then.....???????
ReplyDeleteHere are some options :
ReplyDelete9/8 : Run is at 6:30 and ride is at 7:30 - both should be done by 10:00. We could plan to have the clinic at my house at 10:30.
9/9 : I plan to go on a 8AM ride for about and hour. I am not sure what people have for Sunday AM schedules, but we could do the clinic in the early afternoon.
9/11 : Currently I do not have any plans and we could do the clinic in the early evening. Say 6:30 or 7.
Heather has a work thing on Tuesday. If we can work it out, lets plan the tire clinic for Saturday AM at 10:30. That way, everyone is still a sweaty mess from morning work out and then you can have the whole afternoon. In less than an hour you can all try to take off and mount a few tires. As pretty much all bikes will be the same, I will have the bike and some tires, tire levers and pumps for people to use. Who thinks they will be attending?
ReplyDeleteI will be there!!! Thanks a bunch!!!
