Hello everyone.
We are starting to plan the 2011 Red Cross Ride. Last year the race was in May and though we had about 113 riders, it probably suffered in attendance because of other events held at that time. Therefore, we are looking to move the event to October and make it a season 'ending' event rather than an 'early' season riding event.
The first planning meeting is tomorrow, February 1, 2011 at 5:15 at the Red Cross offices at 326 South Franklin Street in downtown Rocky Mount. Parking is behind the building.
It would be great to have a big turnout for this initial meeting. I do not anticipate doing any sort of task designation at this point, just ideas. I think the more minds collected to play devil's advocate or to think of creative additions, the better. I do not anticipate the meeting taking a long time. I would like to be done within an hour and I will do my best to keep that timeline.
Please come out to throw in your two cents if you can.
Thanks.
Eric
Please mark your calendars. The 2011 Red Cross Ride for Heroes will be held on October 8. This date is also the date of the Eastern Carolina BBQ Throw Down, so your 'support staff' can have an event to walk around while you ride. Afterwards, you can replace all those enjoyably burned calories by sampling the pork, chicken, brisket and rib offerings that have been made by the professional BBQ teams in the competition. You may even end up on national TV. The riding will start downtown (Imperial Center if possible) so you will be within easy walking distance of the Throw Down.
