The Official "2nd Annual Unofficial Rocky Mount Marathon"

Many of you remember that last year Frank ran and won the 1st ever Rocky Mount Marathon. This was a GPS measure 26.2 mile course around Rocky Mount. This "race" will be held again on January 31st 2009. The start, finish, and route as still getting planned at the moment, but everyone is welcome to join for as many or as few miles as you chose.

The race will be precision timed by the watch you chose to wear that day. If you want a shirt or medal, you must bring your own. Awards ceremonies will be held back at your own house with a hot cup of coffee or a cold beer. . . your choice. More details will follow. If you are interested in joining Frank for all or part of the run post a comment.
Keep an eye out for this run. . . it just might turn in to a big event in a few years!

I think we "unofficially" talked about doing the 1/2 marathon course twice...would make dropping fluids easier.

If you run the Half route twice, I may join for the Half distance.

Depends on if anyone else is running near my pace.

I may be able to hang with Arthur (and/or Russ).

  6. Frankle,

I am good for most, if not all. Privilege to run with RMEC's ultra sensei.

Those of us that run the half will be home drinking beer before you.

What about 1/4 for those of us who are fatter after Christmas (somebody had to devise a way to get all of the chocolate out of the house)and only running 6 miles for their long runs?

  10. Not much of a plan right now. We talked about heading out at 8 am (rain / shine / sleet / snow) Meet at the Rocky Mount Half Marathon start / finish.

We plan to have fluids there and at the dog pound (assuming I can get permission to leave my car there down near the greenway!). Probably have some pretzels, etc. too.

Any and all are welcome! Run as far or as short as you like!

Unofficially, is anyone (except Lavely) interested in a longer option? Officially, this is an unofficial marathon or less. Unofficially, there could possibly be a official longer option . . . unofficially . . . of course.

Unofficially, I'd like to do the marathon option - not a step further. If I can run that morning, I will have to start the unofficial marathon at the unofficial start time of 5:30am rather than at the offical 8:00am start.
