This and That

I don't have much information to share, but wanted to try to keep the blog up to date. So here are a few random tidbits of information:

The Great Medoc Rerun: As a reminder, the Medoc Rerun is scheduled for 12/06. We have not set a time, but I was thinking about 9:00 am. This gives everyone a chance to get there, and hopefully have it warm up a touch. Of course don't skip the run if you are going to be late. Come out and run the course backwards! People would love to see you! We are up to 20 runners now. Hope to see that number double if possible! Don't forget that there is a holiday party the same evening will include RMEC members. Come run in the morning, and celebrate at night!

Sweetheart 5k presented by Dental Care Center: If you did not know, the new 5k course has been approved by the Rocky Mount Police Department. Parks and Rec still needs to discuss this with the neighbors of Candlewood and Greystone, but we are optimistic it will be well received by both communities. The race will be completely finished before most people finish their morning cup of coffee. There are still two lots left for sponsors. The brochure will be finalized this weekend, so if you know anyone who might be interested please put them in touch now!

    How about 8:30 for the re-run start? Want to be sure I can finish the 26.2 and shower BEFORE the party starts! :-)

    Frank - I'm with you. Assuming I end up doing the 26.2....Unless it is just freezing cold that day I will probably plan to start as early as I can get in the park (8:00?). I have a feeling I will need a lot of time to complete my adventure!

    That goes for me too....assuming my legs still function after November 9.

    Time does not matter too much to me. Those doing the 26.2 may want to start earlier. The average temps that time of year are:

    * Low 30
    * High 54
    * Mean 42

    So I don't think the time of the start will have too much of an impact.

    Assuming my foot enables me to run, I plan to do the 10 miler. Starting at 9:00 would likely work better for me, because we may bring kids too.

    How about this. . . 8:00 for the marathoners and 9:00 for the 10-milers? People can chose whatever time works for them, but those can be the "main" times.

    Others please chime in.

    I would love to start at 8 am---I will pretty much be walking and I have a swim meet to get back to at the Y for Kayla. I also have to help the keynote speaker prepare his speech for the evening!!!

    It all depends whether or not I have kids in tow. If I do, 9:00am would be my "start time." (Hiking with the kiddies.) If I am on my own time is majority ruled. (Of course, I do love my sleep.)

    We do not all have to start at the same time. I think we can pick two "main" times, but having different start times will actually make it more fun. It will give us an opportunity to pass people on the trails more often.
