As a member of the Road Runner Club of America (RRCA), we must send in our annual payment and a list of current members at the end of this year. I wanted to give everyone a heads up that this is coming up in December. Of course we hope everyone will decide to renew their RMEC membership, but we also hope some of you "online lurkers" (you know who you are) will join us in 2009! There is strength in numbers, and having a larger group increases our opportunity for success, and gives everyone more potential training partners. Current members, please do your part to help recruit for our 2009 membership.
In 2008, our membership fee was $25 annually. The RMEC Officers will review our current balance sheet, and 2009 plans before setting the 2009 dues, but I do not anticipate a substantial change (up or down). The RRCA did not increase our dues, so that is of course in our favor.
As a member you get access to the following: Discounts on running gear; Organized and supported group runs; Reduced entry fees on some local races; Social Outings; Advice from 40+ runners, cyclists, swimmers, and triathletes; Access to the RMEC website; and more. Most importantly, your membership dues enables the RMEC to host local road races, and keep Rocky Mount active.
i feel like i ust paid this when i registered for the fords colony and medwhy is it time againoc...
ReplyDeleteTracy-
ReplyDeleteThose were race entry fees not membership dues. Actually, if you were an RMEC member your race entry fees were lower than a non-member.
The primary need for club dues is because of our affiliation with the Road Runner Club of America. We have to pay them based on our membership. Our association with them is very valuable. We get race insurance and the ability to be a tax-exempt organization through them, as well as other benefits. The dues did come around a little faster this year since we didn't officially form as an RRCA member club until well into 2008. From now on the dues will come at a consistent yearly time (December).
Also, as we continute to grow as a club and (hopefully) receive grant money from the RRCA, we will be putting on some other events that will help us in our mission of making RM a "fitter" place.
If anyone has any other questions/concerns, feel free to contact either Michael or myself
not that it is a huge deal...but im sure that i paid for the club before or during the same time i registered for the races, though not in the same transaction. i was really late getting the form completed and i only joined for myself, bob did not join. i was under the asumption that it said that your membership would come due the same time every year???? but like i said, not a big deal...
ReplyDeleteSorry Tracy - I mis-read your original post and forgot that you joined the RMEC after the intitial sign up.
ReplyDeleteIt is mainly a function of this being the first year we officially became a club. We had to pay RRCA the same yearly amount despite the fact that we were not a club for the entire year. As I mentioned before, this will work itself out going forward since dues will always be due at a consistent time and will be for an entire calendar year.
Just in case I confused everyone. We still have almost 2 months before I need to send anything in to RRCA. This post was just to give you a heads up. It will be late December before we start to finalize things.
ReplyDeleteJust let me know how much and when you need it and I'll get you mine and Tampa's dues.
ReplyDeleteLet me know how much and when to pay. Misty
