Six of us (Michael, Tracy, Ryan, Derek, Tim, and Matt) are running Chicago is October. I have heard others discuss running OBX, City of Oaks, Richmond, and Medoc, but do not know if there are any firm commitments yet. Cliff and Jason are training for Ironmans, so I expect they will be busy, and some of you plan to do half marathons. Please use the Medoc 10-miler as a training race for whatever you are doing.
So, here is your chance to let the group know what your plans are. The biggest benefit of the RMEC is having people to train with. I expect we may have several mini groups getting ready for different races, but our training will overlap, and our weekend runs will be just as important as ever.
Please post a comment with good details about your fall plans. If there is interest, I am happy to set up another training team with a training plan we can all follow. This actually helps me set up longs to meet your needs. We can even partner with the Sports Backers again if there is interest. This is also the time to recruit your friends into marathon training! Bring some new people out to run.
Here are some races to consider:
- 10/04 Medoc Trail Marathon (NEW)
- 11/02 City of Oaks Half Marathon
- 11/02 City of Oaks Marathon
- 11/09 OBX Half Marathon
- 11/09 OBX Full Marathon
- 11/15 Richmond Half Marathon (NEW)
- 11/15 Richmond Marathon
- 11/22 FCSB Half Marathon (TENTATIVE DATE)
- Others?
I will start. I plan to run Chicago, and would like to run the FCSB Half. I seriously would love to run the Medoc 10-miler, but will be helping to volunteer instead.
ReplyDeleteI may do another marathon after Chicago, but most likely will try to recover and go run a PR at Disney in January. The full is still open for anyone who is interested in joining me.
After I run Grandma's next month, I will pick up training with the Chicago group. Additionally I plan to run the FCSB Half and likely Medoc 10 miler. That will probably be it through the end of the year to avoid injuries but would like a spring marathon.
ReplyDeleteOK--so speaking of injuries.....I HOPE to at least run the Rocky Mount Half. But best case scenario: I would love to run the Medoc 10 but it may be tricky on the 'ol knee. But hey--I will be up for some swim-bike portions of a tri so if there are any runners willing to relay....just let me know!!! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm registered for the Medoc Marathon... and I plan on running the City of Oaks Half and the FCSB Half.
ReplyDeleteAdditionally, I may look into the Rock 'n Roll Half....??
I will definitely do the FCSB Half and at least one more half marathon. I have not decided on whether I will do a full marathon or where, but I could possibly be talked into one....
ReplyDeleteI want to do something! i just don't know what yet. i think I'll do the Williamsburg olympic distance tri in september. I'd like to do another marathon as a run/walk; to see if it's less painful. Any suggestions on a good one late fall or winter. Patti said Disney was too crowded for run/walk. kinnie
ReplyDeleteIm with ya Kinnie, want to do another marathon, just dont know where or when. Im going to have to run/walk it, my knee wont take all that running. Any suggestions??? I think I will do the Medoc 10 miler as well, sounds like fun!!!Tracy H
ReplyDeleteI really don't know yet. I'm doing the Boogie Mountain Marathon in June. Not sure about July and August, September . . . October I'll do the Medoc Marathon (either a week early or late since I'll be volunteering), November I may go back to Richmond (really liked that race!) and December not sure. Basically, my goal this year has been to do a marathon a month but worried about the summer months!
ReplyDeleteFrank
It would seem like a fall marathon is in the future for several of you, and I know some RMEC people have porbably not seen the blog yet to reply.
ReplyDeleteOBX currently is getting the most attention, but not everyone has to do the same race. I will start to post two different routes again for the Saturday runs, and try to follow a basic plan for an early November race. If a group starts to follow a set plan, let me know and I can key off of that.
Group training certainly makes things easier, so if OBX is the race of choice we can find a plan that works!
Also, can't help but notice that 10 people plan to escape from Medoc in October, but only one of you have signed up. . . hmmmmm
I am pretty sure that I will be doing a fall marathon...probably close by so I am thinking OBX. I also plan to do the FCSB 1/2 for sure. More than likely I will also do the Rock-n-Roll 1/2 as well.
ReplyDeleteI, like Frank, will do Medoc (although probably just the 10 miler ;>)) a week early or late since I am volunteering.
Put me down for the Medoc 10-miler on the volunteer run day.
ReplyDeleteI want a medal. . . becuase they are gonna be the most-coolest-boom-digity medals you have ever seen!
I will do at least the "Medoc 10-miler-For -Volunteers" the week before Medoc or whenever we set it.
ReplyDeleteSorry it has taken me so long to respond!
ReplyDeleteI am planning to run Chicago and FCSB as well. I am planning on running Medoc 10 as well. A spring marathon or sprint tri would be of interest!
Ryan
