There are several Rocky Mounters (is that a word?) that are considering doing the Muddy Buddy in Richmond. For those who are not familiar with the event, it is a run/bike two person race with obstacles. The event is July 15th, and registration is open now.
The race features a 6-7 mile course & 5 obstacles. At the start of the race, one team member will run & one will ride the bike. At the 1st obstacle, the rider will drop the bike, complete the obstacle, & begin running. The runner will arrive & complete the obstacle, then find their bike & begin riding. Teams will continue trading off & leapfrogging each other through the entire course. At the end of the race, racers will crawl through the infamous Mud Pit & then cross the finish line together! Teams can be male, female or coed. There is even a mini-Muddy Buddy for the kids. Winning is not the goal of this event, but having a good time is.
I know this sounds like an odd event, and it is. . . but these events are amazingly popular and sell out every year in every location. You might be reading this right now, and thinking, "I would never do that." To that I ask "Why not?"
