Raleigh Rocks Results

A few RMEC members snuck up to Raleigh on Saturday to race in the Raleigh Rocks Half Marathon. The temperatures had plummeted overnight, so they had near freezing temperatures to start the race. With two new North Carolina half/full marathons the weekend before, the race had a 22% drop in finishers, but still a solid crowd of 1,173 posted times.

Ralph Willey cracked the two hour mark, and ran an impressive 1:59:54. This was good enough for 4th in his age group. He only missed placing in the top three by 29 seconds! Misty Schmitt ran a strong 2:06:21. This knocked more than seven minutes off her time in last years race. I am not 1005 certain, but I think this is another big PR for Misty. Great job!

As a reminder, please let us know when you are racing so we can update the blog. "Good races" or "bad races", it is still an accomplishment and something worth sharing.
