"Shamrocking" the Beach!

Congrats to Scott, Jeff, and Patti on their successful Shamrock Marathons! Despite colder than expect weather, and some strong winds, all three did outstanding. Scott finished his marathon in 4:07. A great performance by any measure, and even more impressive when you consider this was his first. Way to go Scott! I have a sneaky suspicion we may see Scott back in a marathon before the end of 2007.

The Miller tandem both set PRs in their second marathons. Patti finished in 3:57, knocking an amazing 28 minutes off her Richmond time! That is more than one minute per mile guys. Wow!

Jeff, was "running free" for the first time. After starting with the 3:40 pace group, he left them in the late miles of the race and finished at 3:34 and in 302nd place in his solo debut! And this is a man who is ready to give up on marathons!?!?

Great job everyone. If you have any stories to share, I will gladly post them on the blog. Runners are weird that way. . . who else would love reading a mile-by-mile account of a four hour run? Click the picture for a larger version.

    OK--here goes
Mile 1-9: "Too fast,Patti, slow down" (yet, I did not!!)
Mile 10-18: Holy @#^* here is the wind and why can't I find some "Clydesdales" to run behind??
    Mile 19-20: Blank...did I run those??
    Mile 21-24: Think Nemo...just keep running..just keep running..that's what we do...we run...
Mile 24: Took one step as if to walk and realized it hurt more to walk than to run...said outloud "NO WAY,RUN" and off I went
Mile 24-25: Just 10 min miles and you break 4 hours.
Mile 25.8: Utilized that last water stop like it was my job.
Mile 26.0: saw Jeff on the boardwalk (he had been long finished) and he tried to run in with me--needless to say he started to move his arms and his feet were bolted to the ground and almost fell over and said "no, I'll see you at the finish".
    Mile 26.2: BRING ON CHICAGO!!!
    Patti!!
PS--Checked the weather--20MPH winds for the whole race with ocassional 32 MPH gusts

Jeff's teeth were chattering so fast Leigh Ann had to set the camera to the "sports" setting just to get a picture! That's what he gets for finishing so fast and having to wait so long for me to finish!
