RUN RSVP: 1/11/11

Happy New Year!  It is time for our annual New Years Day run in Battleboro, NC.  If you are geographically challenged, this is 10 minutes from the Harris Teeter.  For this year's run we will start at Gerry's house.  We know that many of you will be celebrating the night before, so we pushed the start time back to 8:30 instead of the normal 7:00 am.

This is always a fun morning of running.  It is the one day when you can honestly say "I have not missed a day of running this year".

Routes are updated now with two options.

So start the year off on the right foot, and join us at the RMEC New Year's Day Group Run!

  1. Brandie and I are there! She will likely do one of the shorter...but I am in for the 8.4....I need to start my year stronger that I ended 2010!

Sounds great! Are we actually meeting at Gerry's house or at HT? If Gerry's can I follow someone? Yes, I am severely directionally challenged!

  5. I think I am in, but I am hoping for a shorter route. I have never gone farther than 6 miles. I would hate to die on the first day of the year. :)

I would like to run from Gerry's House on New Years. Like Margaret, I am directionally challenged. Can someone lead us from HT?

  7. Directions to my house form Harris Teeter: Head west on Sunset Ave (toward Nashville). Turn Right on Haiifax Road. Stay on Halifax for several miles (you will cross Hunter Hill and HWY 43). You will pass Smiths Red and White and cross over I-95. Take the first left after crossing over I-95 which is Jo Ellen. Take Jo Ellen to the stop sign and then turn right onto Red Oak Battleboro Rd. You will then take the first left onto Barnhill Farm Rd which is the Road I live on. It is the 3rd drive on the left, there is a sign that says Felton, my house is thru the woods so just follow the gravel path. My cell is 904-1195 if you get lost, but it is easy to find.

This is a nice easy route. You can also stay on Red Oak rd intead of turning back to Gerry's on Wollet Mill and continue to Red Oak Baptist Church and turn left back onto Red Oak Battleboro rd past the Middle School and the Park right back to Gerry's house and it is an easy big 10.5 mile cirlce route. I'm going to add 2.5 miles around the park for a 13 mile run.
