RUN RSVP: Saturday 10/10

Hopefully your taper is going well so far. Your long run will cut back this week, and cut back even more next weekend. In the long run schedule I had listed an 18-mile run for those falling the intermediate plan. To be honest, I think I had a typo when I did that. The official plan has a 12 mile run, but I know many of you will want to run further. I wanted to give you a heads up, so you did not think you had to run 18.

We are starting a 7:00 am this week. I am mainly doing this for safety, because it is still dark at 6:30. I am also doing it because our race time is at 8:00 am, and I want us to get some runs in close to that time of day. If you want to add miles before, you are welcome to do so.

Run Details:
  • Where: Saturday, 7:00 am @ Harris Teeter
  • Supported: Yes at the Tracks
  • Weather: Forecast
  • Routes: 12 Miles

I like this route. It allows for runners to see each other pretty often on the Litchfield loop, and in Ketch Point. You can also easily shorten the route to meet your needs.

Continue to test out your race strategy. If if you don't need an energy gel on a route of this length, consider taking one with a few miles left to see how you stomach handles it. The more familiar your body is with your race plan, the more likely you are to have success.

Looks like I might be the only one there at 7:00! Husband is out of town so I'm babysitter dependant. I'll be running 13 at a 9:00-9:30 pace. My race strategy is a run/walk however.
